The Thing feature allows users to connect their components (Kiosks and Print Delivery Station) to the internet, allowing them to remotely control and monitor the devices associated. This feature allows for a more convenient and efficient way of controlling and monitoring components and devices, as well as the ability to automate certain tasks, such as Restart Thing Application.

Getting Started:

To access the Thing screen, the user simply need to login the ePRINTit SaaS and on the menu bar navigate to the Things/Thing area. This feature is managed by permissions and the user must be associated to a group that allows the user to access this option. To get more information about groups and how to associate it to a role type that has this permission, click here.

Adding a New Thing

Click on the Add button.
Enter the thing’s required information.
Click on Add button to create the new thing.

Make sure the customer has license configured for each type of thing. For more information about license, click here.

Editing/Configuring a Thing

Click on the three dots under the Actions column and select the Edit option.

The Update Thing screen will be displayed. After the necessary changes are made, click on the Update button.

Deleting a Thing

Click on the the three dots under the Actions column and select the Delete option.

A confirmation message will be displayed. Once confirmed, the thing will be deleted from ePRINTit SaaS system.

Tags

The ePRINTit SaaS portal offers you a range of functions that save time and effort. These functions also include tags. Tags can be created and assigned to things so that the respective user can be found more easily using the filter.

For example, you can create a tag “office” and assign this tag to all things that are related to it. Afterward, you can filter all the office-relevant things and get an overview of which things are currently in the office filter. Since anyone can create a tag, it is best to think of a system beforehand so that there is a structure and clear overview.

Display QR Code

If the toggle bar is enabled, a QR code will be displayed.

Generate Activation Code

Use this button to generate an Activation Code.

Restart Thing Application

Use to button to restart Thing Application.

Version Status

Version Status can be seen here.

Restarting a Thing

When a new software version is updated through the Software Update option, the Kiosk and PDS (Print Delivery Station) will be updated automatically at 3 AM CST. But in any case, if Kiosk and PDS are not updated then user has the option to update it manually.

Go to the Things page, click on the highlighted button .i.e Restart Thing. After user clicks on this button, the Kiosk or PDS will be updated with the latest version.
